We are now seeking to appoint an experienced individual to lead the Operating Office team of ca. 4-5 experienced individuals and to drive all transformation activities over the next few years. The individual will become part of the global management team of the area.

The role can be based in London or Zurich and reports directly to the Head of Fund Development and Management. This is a newly created role with a primary focus on assisting the Head of FDM on a global basis in:

  • Refining and executing the strategic roadmap for the area over the next years
  • Identifying broader product market trends, setting up and driving impactful frameworks for innovation and driving shelf strategy globally across regions, asset classes and segments
  • Ensuring the implementation of regulatory projects
  • Ensuring conscious management of risk and audit activities
  • Defining and driving the IT, standardisation and automation roadmap
  • Defining and driving the culture and communication agenda for the area
  • Assisting in general business management activities

Strong collaboration with the wider Platform and Specialists area, Investment areas, Distribution, and COO will be essential to success as well as excellent communication skills and ability to drive ideas to a stage of implementation. The successful candidate will move UBS AM forward to becoming a firm that is focused on agile shelf management and robust execution.

The asset management industry continues to undergo structural change, presenting significant opportunities for those firms which are able to respond swiftly to adapt their Product development and shelf strategy and manage capacity effectively. Furthermore, the ongoing shift in client demand is driving over half of industry net inflows into new and newly-repositioned products.
Operating as a global team, in an agile, innovative manner with deep structuring expertise is the core for our Fund Development and Management teams. The FDM area oversees UBS AM's entire fund shelf with ca. 350bn AuM globally.

  • Ideally at least ten years of financial services product development and/or innovation experience with thorough understanding of relevant investment concepts and challenges.
  • Strong understanding of the asset management industry, experience & understanding of multiple asset classes. A broad understanding of portfolio management, operations, tax, and financial services regulations.
  • Leadership experience with ability to manage technical teams as well as work with senior management and clients, including the ability to help lead, coach and mentor other team members.
  • Experience of relationship building and highly evolved influencing and business partnership skills across multiple functions and geographical regions. Must possess the desire and ability to work in a collaborative and intensive team-orientated environment.
  • Strong project management skills, and a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Acting as a strong people manager, shows a high level of initiative and is an excellent networker, internally as well as externally. High level of energy, hunger, discipline, tenacity, and self-motivation.
  • Independent and strategic thinking (constructively challenging the status quo) coupled with a proven ability to work with - and make an impact in a team environment
  • Degree educated, ideally with a post-graduate qualification; investment management qualification and/or the CFA designation are a plus
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to clearly articulate sophisticated concepts, ideas, and processes
