The Manager is responsible for leading a team of Supply Chain Finance Services' Specialists in the delivery of consultative, value-added client service and compliance of the Bank’s AML, KYC policies and in managing the overall operations of the team, including the tracking and analysis of business volumes.

Key Accountabilities:

- Provide guidance and direction in the provision of consultative, value-added, effective and efficient customer service and support.
- Ensure all aspects of the customers’ trade needs are addressed in a manner consistent with Scotia Service Standards and Complaint Resolution Standards and in doing so positively differentiate the level of service / support provided to the customer from that provided by other financial institutions as it related to trade services.
- Assist clients and/or negotiate with GTB Sales with the terms of the proposed SCF transactions and make final decisions or where escalation is required recommend solutions to the Director, Trade Services Centre.
- Monitor and track adherence to Service Level Agreements.
- Resolve all escalated customer concerns and issues.
- Deal directly with clients when appropriate, in order to provide expertise and recommendations as required.
- Develop and maintain expert knowledge and strong understanding of banking trade products, market trends, services and pricing.
- Identify potential additions and/or improvements to department customer databases and business processes to increase productivity.
- As a function of the processing of trade transactions, look for opportunities to identify potential business referrals.
- Participate and lead meetings when appropriate, in order to provide expertise, recommendations on structures, and processing procedures.
- Ensure transactions escalated are fully covered under the current version of the Compliance Trade Services & Financial Institutions KML/AML/ATF Policies & Procedures handbook.
- Ensure the compliance of all activities and transactions executed in the Centre are in accordance with the Bank’s KYC, due diligence, and AML policies, including, but not limited to, the completion of TFAP, World-check, identification of red flags, and the documentation of due diligence activities under “Appendixes C, D or E of said Compliance handbook. Act as the unit Compliance Officer, if required.
- Review TFAP based on the guidelines stipulated in said policies.

Manage operational controls, risk and compliance:
- Provide technical, transactional, compliance and risk management direction to team members on specific matters relating to trade service business.
- Ensure the accurate set-up and maintenance of client and documentation database information.
- Monitor and evaluate exception situations and recommending course of action to reduce / minimize potential losses.
- Manage the SLA by ensuring all transactions are processed and authorized in accordance with established timeframes and transaction limits.
- Monitor and maintain credit and/or security procedures in accordance with Bank policy and Uniform Rules.
- Ensure all non-standard customer documentation is identified, documented and appropriately authorized.
- Sporadically review transactions processed by the Assistant Manager and SCF Specialists as per the Post Review Process for Transaction Limits of Trade Services Centre guidelines to ensure transactions are processed in accordance with SLA, AML & KYC Policy & Procedures, TSU Handbook as well as operating procedures.
- Regular monitoring and reviewing the appropriateness of the system access rights for each employee as per the Bank’s respective policies.
- Ensure the proper handling and safekeeping of negotiable instruments (Form 28).

Manage day-to-day operations:
- Identify operational efficiencies through effective resource management.
- Exhibit ample understanding of all the facility structures currently active.
- Become proficient with various bank systems; BESS, Input Facility, CorrRisk, T360, Prime Revenue, ACBS, Scotia Connect, etc.
- Develop and maintain operational control points, operational integrity and data confidentiality.
- Maintain and monitor the Centre’s Business Continuity Plan and Occupational Health and Safety program.
- Manage the delivery of all financial and non-financial reporting requirements.
- Provide Director back-up support during times of vacation, absences, etc.

Provide strong team leadership to motivate and develop individual and team performance:
- Foster and develop a strong, positive team environment, driving employee empowerment, innovation and a high degree of engagement.
- Exhibit an ability to listen, negotiate and communicate goals.
- Share knowledge experience and responsibility with employees in a drive for the highest standards of professionalism and service excellence.
- Ensure the performance management process is in place, creating performance metrics geared to the business and ensuring employee development is a priority for all employees on the team.
- Regular scheduling one-on-one coaching with direct reports.
- Identify and support training and developmental needs of team members.
- Encourage the generation of new ideas and approaches.
- Manage staffing requirements and departmental workloads.
- Work with staff to implement Employee Development Plan (EDP) and conducting regular EDP discussion with employees.
- Develop and implement action plans to address concerns raised through the View Point Survey to improve the Centre’s employee engagement, as well as, management effectiveness levels.

This position bears a high degree of financial and reputational risk.

The incumbent must have expert knowledge in all of the following areas:
- 5-10 years of Trade Experience, including trade related products, services, processes and pricing.
- Bank's systems: T360, BESS, CorrRisk, Intralink, Input Facility.
- Bank's regulations, policies, procedures, operations and functions.
- Bank's business related products and services.
- Bank's transactional services.
- Bank's Anti Money Laundering and compliance policies and procedures.
- Bank's automated systems.
- Accounting principles.
- University degree.
